Hincey Honey

My mate Ben and I got quite drunk at the Corner Hotel one night. At some point, I agreed to do a beekeeping course with him. Apparently.

Now three years later, I am an enthusiastic amateur beekeeper. We have two strong bee hives down in Smiths Beach on Phillip Island that produce large quantities of richly-flavoured honey. We make so much each year that my wife sells it online and I sell jars of it at the agency.

The first three questions people ask when I say I keep bees:

Q. Do you have the white suit and smoke thingy?
A. Yes I do. It would be suicidal not to.

Q. Have you ever been stung?
A. Yes I have. Repeatedly and frustratingly often.

Q. How much honey do you get?
A. In the 2017 season, we had a bumper harvest of over 40kgs from our two hives.
